PixelFret is a game that helps you learn scales and memorise the fretboard. It uses real-time pitch detection so you play on your actual guitar or bass.
Uses a pay what you want model as an alternative to other subscription-based guitar learning games out there.
Practice and learn any scale (Major, Minor, Pentatonic, Blues, Dorian, Mixolydian, Phrygian, Lydian and more coming soon) in any key and position.
This mode is an effective way to help you learn the fretboard by presenting random notes that you must find on the fretboard. Has timed sessions with difficulty from Easy to Expert.
Components of the game are open sourced to hopefully inspire similar projects. Check out the GitHub repository for more information or to contribute.
Play along with synced audio + MIDI tracks using song mode.
Song mode will also include community content features. Anyone will be able to create and share songs using the web-based MIDI converter tool. It takes a MIDI track, lets you assign notes to strings (MIDI channels), and packages it with an audio file and config for the game. Try PixelFret Studio. Note that it is currently just a demo and not functional.
